Masked Sacerdotal Wrestler

I was watching Nacho Libre tonight and learned by a google search that the film is loosely based on the story of Fray Tormenta ("Friar Storm"), aka Rev. Sergio Gutierrez Benitez, a real-life Mexican Catholic priest who had a 23-year career as a masked luchador. He competed in order to support the orphanage he directed.

That's dedication, but would St Francis approve?

March for Life

It was incredible. I was glad to see all the "Lutherans for Life" and Baptists and all the others. Very beautiful. But what spoke to me were all the Catholics!

Above is a picture of our friend Father Solanus hearing a confession during the march. I walked up to him to say hello again and noticed a bit of purple peeking out from his cowl and realized he was hearing a confession. Impressive.

To the Man Who Has Nothing...

We're hosting some Friars of the Renewal at our home this weekend. My wife said, what do you think a friar would like?

Which leads to the question: "What do you give the man who has nothing?"
