Mary and the Book of Revelation

See how the apparition of the Woman in Revelation chapter 12 clarifies the Catholic teachings of Mary as the Ark of the Covenant, Mary as Queen of Heaven, Mary as the New Eve, and Mary as Mother of the Faithful.

King of Heaven and...Poland!

"A group of Polish members of parliament have submitted a bill seeking to proclaim Jesus Christ king of their overwhelmingly Catholic country.
Forty-six deputies - 10% of the lower house - signed the bill.

"If the bill becomes law, Jesus will follow the path of the Virgin Mary, who was declared honorary queen of Poland by King John Casimir 350 years ago."

If this happens, I think it should recognized as a miracle attributed to the intercession of His Holiness John Paul the Great of Blessed Memory. "The prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16)

Scott Hahn Talks about His Life in Opus Dei

Last Friday the Catholic Information Center of Washington, D.C. hosted Scott Hahn to give a lecture and sign his new book Ordinary Work, Extraordinary Grace: My Spiritual Journey in Opus Dei. Dr. Hahn is an amazing speaker. I'm honestly inspired by the man. For those interested in St Josemaria Escriva and Opus Dei, this is a good starting place.

I Rode Home on the Metro with Dawn Eden

I rode home on the Metro this evening with Dawn Eden, author of the new book The Thrill of the Chaste: Finding Fullfillment While Keeping Your Clothes On. She spoke at the Catholic Information Center last night and stopped by again today.

We had a nice discussion. I very much respect her honesty and willingness to talk about chastity. Thank God someone finally wrote an accessible book on chastity. Check out her book.

Patriarch Bartholomew and East-West Reunion

First of all the picture above of Bartholomew of Constantinople is amazing. Secondly, it seems that His All Holiness (yes, that's his title) Patriarch Bartholomew had some discussions about "ecumenical progress" with His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI:

Q: The addresses and common declaration you signed are "lofty" and compromising. Have you also spoken of the future?

Patriarch Bartholomew I: In this respect, I can say that I spoke with His Holiness of something -- something that we could do. I presented him with a proposal which I cannot now elaborate on, as we await an official response, but I can say that His Holiness was very interested and that he received it favorably. We hope it can be undertaken as it is directed to that ecumenical progress that, as we have affirmed and written in the common declaration, both of us are determined to pursue.

Hat tip to Mark Adams.
