In nomine Patris
Posted by
Taylor Marshall
In the last 250 years, there have only been seven names used by the Popes (eight if you count the composite "John Paul"):
Clement, John, Benedict, Pius, Gregory, Paul, Leo
I wonder why this is. Any thoughts?

Corrected to include
Clement,
thanks to Fr Stainbrook

This blog, Canterbury Tales, is solemnly consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
“Et tuam ipsius animam pertransibit gladius
ut revelentur ex multis cordibus cogitationes.”
(Luke 2:35, Vulgate)
Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us.
